A fascinating documentary in which a camera crew who filmed the efforts of a young political activist in France's last presidential election shows the young man the film they've made of him... and films his reactions when they do. It's all the more interesting because the activist supported Marine Le Pen, who was the candidate on the extreme right. Once the documentary begins in earnest, however, the young man's secrets start poking through... _La Cravate_ (_The Tie_, a reference to his wardrobe as he works his way through the ranks) succeeds on three levels: 1) in not taking sides when presenting the man's opinions, 2) in showing us how someone winds up fighting for a demogogic political party and 3) in forcing the young man to ask himself, "Am I a good person, or am I an asshole?" and capturing that on film.
