Harsh and uncomfortable, _Memory House_ is a drama that leaves a strong bitter taste in the mouth. A dreadful story, brilliantly acted and accompanied by great cinematography. Some aspects related to the 'fantasy' element of the story can be improved (or somehow waived), but overall a more than good debut.

Souther represented by germans, protagonist works on a milk fabric and a separatist movemment created by the South of Brazil rises asking for independece. Yep, super creative. The symbols just work if you have any knowledge about them before, the others symbols presented has none idea attached to them. The movie is very slow, and the screeenplay does not work in the sense of creating more deeper characters.

[Stockholm FF] In some way, the director tries to reflect in a concrete setting a good part of the characteristics of Brazil, with the return to confrontation, racism and prejudice. It is a difficult task for a debut, and it is dispersed in ideas that are interesting (the abandoned house, the isolated protagonist, the mask ...) which, however, lack definition. The last part is more symbolic, connected with the God Oxalá, the supreme creator of Afro-Brazilian mythology. And it works in its metaphorical concept, but not in its fit within the narrative.
