Fresh, crazy, reckless and irreverent, _Du poil sous les roses_ has a lot in common with teenagers. And it is indeed teenagers that this film is about. Teenagers grappling with the overwhelming and disruptive wave of sexuality that lands in the quiet lives of little kids. A feature film that, in being entertaining, tackles subjects that are by no means easy, with a playful approach that is well suited to the communication needs to interface with the category of users directly concerned. Co-directed by Agnès Obadia and Jean-Julien Chervier (here making his only feature film), it offers a well-balanced female and male perspective, very well acted by the two young protagonists. The typically French impudent comic touch of those years is well marked, making it potentially indigestible to early moralists. Finally, the wacky minimalist animated drawings between chapters make it all the more enjoyable. Recommended.
