From the 1:00:05 mark to the 1:00:45 mark, it's a great movie. Apart from that 40-second span (which is more like a nature documentary of the African savannah, complete with no talking), this movie blew chunks. What a stinker. Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid. Absolutely terrible and makes no sense whatsoever. This brings a stink on the entire Tom Berenger series.

I think the decision to continue the franchise by making Thomas Beckett’s son the protagonist was a good one. Even though this son was never mentioned in the previous films, it’s easy to accept the idea and just enjoy the movie. As a “reboot-style” entry in the Sniper saga, it works well overall, but I felt it lacked more action scenes. Some moments also don’t make much sense, mainly because the pacing is very fast — things happen a bit too quickly. The beginning didn’t really work for me, but the movie improves as it goes, which is a positive point. Bringing Richard Miller back as a mentor was a great move, leading to a strong ending that meets the expectations of the franchise. And the line “They wet their pants and learn to like it. I like it so much I’m doing it right now.” definitely got some laughs out of me. Overall, it’s a solid movie and even works as an entry point for those who want to start the Sniper saga without watching the older films.
