I really can’t describe this fever dream of a movie. The visuals and auditory feelings that the movie provided were phenomenal and captivating. There was so many tiny bits of philosophical food that were narrowly tethered together by the overall story. The largest downfall of the piece, is certainly not lack of imagination but rather the failure to create of characters that were interesting enough on their own. The first half of the movie was not as carried the constant stream of visuals and the characters themselves were not shown to be complex enough. By the end of the movie, I was able to understand some additional complexities of each character, but the film itself failed to convey these complexities in a way that would keep the viewer entertained by their interactions. Still, it was a beautiful masterpiece of visuals that can only be described as a dream of epic proportions, even if the film could only show a drop in the ocean.

Need a break? _Children of the Sea_ is an idyllic seaside get-away where you ignore life's distractions for awhile and immerse yourself in the gorgeous views. While the story is dispersed like a drop of rain in the ocean (which is to be expected when adapting a 5-part manga into 110 minutes), the stunning visuals and the subtle innocence make the film a prefect place to lose yourself.

_Children of the Sea_ was quite the ambitious think piece, adapting a manga series that was written over the course of 6 years and condensing it down to a 111 minute animated film. That aside, it was ==gorgeous== being animated by Studio 4 °C, whose works have always been above average. Not to mention, it was scored by the Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi, who you may know by his work with Studio Ghibli. If you're looking to get whisked away on a magical adventure that will overwhelm your visual and auditory senses for a spectacular stretch of time, this movie is definitely for you. It definitely is a think piece, though, and my brain do be hurting still.

Ngl this movie changed the chemistry in my Brain and sudently im able to write poems,its crazy. But besides that IM OBSESSED with this movie. Ever since i watched it i wasnt really able to find any anime as good as this one

Basic Science Class: This movie is about Ruka, a teenager who meets two boys, Umi and Sora, who are adopted to live at sea. She gets intrigued by the mysterious phenomenon that happens with sea animals, Whales' songs, and the boys' role in the mystery. [spoiler] The movie starts with a sport where Ruka hurts a bully hard and she is asked to apologise to the bully, or else she won't be part of a team. But she gets into a dilemma because she just retaliated for what the bully started. This scene in the movie looks pointless as she doesn't deal with it and this scene is not needed for the story for any reason. The movie gets to the actual story as she meets the boys. Exploring the plot, theme, and mystery through Ruka was well-written and made me intrigued to continue. The government experiments on the boys to find their aquatic abilities and proceeds to find the mystery of anomaly with the sea animals. This subplot also gets lost in this movie without any proper scenes.[/spoiler] [spoiler] The movie at pre-climax starts to delve into explaining the creation of the universe, organisms, and sea. This movie just puts all scientific concepts of how the universe might have been created, the first life born of the Sea, and evolution; everything is filled with common elements and components, such as the mysteries of sea animals' gathering, sacrifices of characters, etc. What I expected was a movie like Luca, a much more grand story and theme; instead, it just has my school science book as a theme, mysteries, which should have been intriguing to enjoy the movie. The ending is just what I expected it to be. [/spoiler] I watched this movie in English, Dubbing is fine. The animation was amazing as the undersea, beach, climate, and frames were good and admirable. The music was well used when the story failed to convince me to continue. In conclusion, this movie failed to amaze me with its themes, mysteries, revelations, etc. It is not up to my expectations.
