Disciples of the 36th Chamber is my least favourite of the three 36th Chamber films. I was pretty sure that was going to be the Return, but the main character in this one, Fong Shiyu, is so darn annoying throughout, it ruined some of it for me. I usually like Hsiao Ho, but in this, the joker thing became too much. The saving grace was the ever so lovely Lily Li as the mother of the "hero", and of course Gordon Liu as San Te. It's all a bit boring (or annoying) until the final showdown, which ends up being the best part of the film. Disciples of the 36th Chamber ends up being fun enough, but far from a highpoint.
