At age 88, Clint still has it. I'm a big fan and have seen all his films at least once. I can understand how someone who does not like him finds this movie rather boring. One thing this movie is not is a thriller. But you have to give it a chance and maybe find something valuable in it. You have to invest some time. Nowadays, it is rare to find a slowly moving picture that is not overloaded but straightforward. This tells a story about a man for whom you can actually sympathize, even though he does something criminal.
Clint Eastwood gives a charming performance, for an old racist. It's kinda fun seeing him just roadtripping and singing along to the radio and eating ice cream sandwiches. The story is good but pretty straightforward. A solid movie overall.
The film is fine, but it is too clean and academic. Everything is solved too easily, both good and bad
The Mule is a drama film directed and starring Clint Eastwood, based on the true story of Leo Sharp, a 90-year-old veteran and horticulturist who became a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. The film features a strong cast, including Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Dianne Wiest, and Andy García. However, despite the interesting subject matter, the movie is a dull and drab affair that is stretched out to nearly two hours in length. The story lacks dramatic tension and the characters are not well-developed, making it difficult for the audience to care about them. The performances are muted, and the writing is lackluster. The movie looks good, but that's about the only positive aspect of it. The Mule isn't terrible, but it's not good either.
Here's the main lesson from the movie: A family that demands attention turns a man into a felon. Oh, and always put family first, but there are some jobs you can't put after you family. Oh, and one more: replant flowers when they are blooming.
