Garbage, to be sure, but it gets an extra couple of points for the surprisingly decent music score. Otherwise, a failed cash-in on Jaws, with a big name cast surely only in it for the money.
A fantasticly bad spaghetti-horror that takes all of its cues from Jaws without being able to nail the character development. Some great performances from Henry Fonda, Shelley Winters and John Huston (given the terrible dialogue they did well to make their characters memorable). The effects are actually decent given the time and budget. The score is cheesy AF with lots of inappropriate disco flute. The underwater scenes are great, and filmed very competently. I loved the suspense that was built on by showing the octopus in limited frames. All the babes get killed off pretty quickly, I was really looking forward to more screen time from the Italian eye candy, così è la vita"
