What the hell happened at the end there? It got pretty nuts.
Catching up before it's leaving Shudder. Years after losing her father and sister at the hands of her frantic mother, Holly is married, lonely, and unable to live a normal life due to her past trauma. Her life takes a turn for the weird when she visits a cult seminar led by a charismatic leader Bruce O’Hara. Soon, she finds it difficult to differentiate between reality and dreams. This film is twisty, stylish, erotic, extremely bonkers in a lot of good ways, especially the third act where it goes full nightmare. This is the type of film that constantly plays with your mind and wants you to be unsure of what's real and what's not. it’s a struggle to process what’s happening or anticipate what’s coming next but I'm always on board with something like this. Some interesting performances, beautifully shot, there's also a lot of gruesome horror imagery and I really like the atmosphere of this film as well. Get a bit unfocused and confusing at times but I definitely enjoyed myself.
I should have read the comments and took the advice of finding another movie to watch. The best part of the movie is the beginning and that’s it. I’m not going to criticize the acting because I don’t believe the world’s greatest actor or actress could have save this film from itself. If the goal of this movie was confusion, then job well done. That’s the nice thing I can say. Avoid this movie or suggest it to a friend who you are looking to get even with.
