Accros aux nuits sans lendemain ou dépendants l'un de l'autre ?
New York, les années 90.

Just another pixie girl having to be the mom/therapist for his partner. But give her Parkinson and make it her whole personality and at the same time make it irrelevant. They didn't care about Parkinson (the whole convention scene was very nice, but that's the only honesty we saw about it), the just wanted a random disease to give Maggie a reason to be unattainable, cynical and aloof. Also, how was she paying for all those meds? She was an artist, but we never see her selling her work? She didn't seem to struggle a lot to pay for her meds.
Yes, there are the trips to Canada, but????
This movie was weak, it lacked courage to make a bold statement against the predatory ways of pharmaceutical and health care industry. It didn't even want to go near there, and so we're left with a lot of questions about Maggie.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway's chemistry is probably my favourite thing about this movie. Hope to see them acting alongside each other again in the future!
Based on the book 'Hard Sell is a lovely, charming film that blends rom-com with seriousness. Mature romance stands out, though tonal shifts aren't always seamless. Still a worthwhile watch for the leads! Charming pharma rep falls for a woman with early-onset Parkinson's. Love is there but a person doesn't want to be burdened on the other, full of emotions. The situations though little ott but keeps you hooked however the pharma backdrop feels a bit separate. Gyllenhaal is good, but Anne Hathaway, you girl, you superstar. Hell of a performance. Emotions oozing out of her eyes, her body showing her sickness was nuanced. Their on-screen connection and chemistry is the heart of the film.
this could have been good but was filled with so many cheap feels.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway have chemistry that makes you believe they've been together for years. It's the best part of the movie, honestly. When they're on screen together, it works. What I didn't expect is that it would be so raw in certain moments. It's not the typical rom-com where everything is pretty and easy. There are scenes that hurt, and that's appreciated because it gives weight to the story. Although sometimes the tone jumps from comedy to drama a bit abruptly. It's not perfect, but it caught me off guard. I thought it would be just another romantic movie and it turned out to be something with more substance than it seemed.
