American version of the Canadian film of the same title. It changes a very important part of the plot, softening it and making it much more digestible commercially. History loses all its original meaning.

As grim as you might imagine (though not as much as the French original), this has an interesting concept but not necessarily one that I want to witness again.

Largely pointless hyper violence. It's about torture and watching it is torture, so I guess that's some sort of meta parallel or something. Started off rather promising with a psychological horror setup and some nice surprises and scares, but fell apart as soon as [spoiler] the one lady found the secret ladder[/spoiler].

Absolutely awful remake. The original is a masterpiece and they decided to Americanise it and butchered it

One of the worst remakes I've ever seen....
