I'm not well acquainted with Giacometti's life or work, but this film is an interesting look into a mad man's process.
This film is like posing for a portrait: long, repetitive and tiresome. I felt I was supposed to like this _Final Portrait_ as it had art, Paris and jazz, but the film didn't try to give me enough of any of those to care.
On the surface, this feels like a slight piece of filmmaking. Yet, like any great art, it is also finely nuanced, with much to enjoy beyond face value.
