I'm a big fan of Pixar films, but this new animated division of Disney, which crafted Moana, is superb. The quality of the art is clean and georgeous. The personal idiocyncristic movements that capture each character are reminiscent of the work of the great animator Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away). This animated movie is a gem, must see movie. Beyond it's technical excellence, the story is full and unique. Disney gets a new princess (OK... Chief's daughter). Children get two new songs with which to drive their parents crazy and replace Frozen (on repeat). The Asian Pacific is brought to life. Both children and adults will love this picture. I'm a fan. I give it a 10 (spectacular) out of 10.
What a beautiful film, outstanding graphics, and moving sound track.. Disney keep amazing me with their work... XD
Moana is an amazing movie. It keeps up with the well known Disney format of an independent leading character which all the children aspire to be like! It has great songs, absolutely gorgeous animation with the colours beaming out of the screen, and one of the funniest sidekicks in movie history! What could be a better formula for a movie!
Really enjoyed it. The songs were catchy, characters had good chemistry, and it was visually stunning. This is the third Disney princess movie in a row that doesn't make the female lead rely on a love interest, and a rare movie that keeps her parents alive! The kids have already asked to go see it again.
A girl in the pacific islands embarks on a quest to save the world. Computer animation is getting better and better and there’s no doubt that Moana is at the top of its game on this front. The islands and the ocean look lush and tactile with the bright bold colours making for a beautiful film in every frame. Much like Frozen however, Moana is bland beneath the surface. It’s ostensibly a film about independence and self-empowerment but these elements feel like they were written by a committee over at Disney, rather than being a true expression of human emotion. It’s paint by numbers film making. While Moana sailed across the world in search of new lands I felt like I was drowning in an ocean of noise, wacky sidekicks and bland pop songs with pan pipes laid over the top. Could have been so much better. http://benoliver999.com/film/2017/03/19/moana/
