Funny and entertaining but that's it! On the other hand: what could one expect more from a Luc Besson flick?!
Light comedy from Marseille with a taxi driver.
The original. Cool, surprising, funny, French. Great action comedy that s highly entertaining. PS: Do yourself a favour and forget that the 2004 American remake of this movie exists. That one is just crap and a pain to watch.
I had never seen a bad film with Marion Cotillard before, but now I know that it does exist. It has incredibly lame humor, but above all, unsympathetic and annoying main characters. I probably shouldn't take it too seriously, but when police officer
Emilien's love for his female colleague is not reciprocated, he is advised by Daniel to just go ahead and sexually assault her, with tips on how to do it. Let's see how she reacts to that. It's only after Emilien receives an honorary medal for catching the cliché German villains in Mercedes cars that she considers him "good enough" and even apologizes for hitting him.
The inexplicable success of Taxi is continued in parts 2, 3, and 4. I won't torture myself any longer and have seen enough with this first episode.
A fun film that stands up well. Just make sure you don't watch the English dubbed version.
