When a film is starring Marisa Tomei and Vincent D'Onofrio you can bet you'll be in for a good watch. The story opens with Ruby (Marisa Tomei) and her dating disasters. Things change when she meets Sam (Vincent D'Onofrio) who seems just perfect. The course of true love is never without bumps along the way, and possible time-travel is a pretty big bump. Will it be enough to derail their romance though? The first watch is the very best and rewarches reward in the nuances of both lead performances and the hints at the reality of Sam Deed. There are NO extras on this UK DVD release (subtitles, commentaries or any other material) and I would love to have heard about the experience of making the film.
While there is a very mild sci-fi backdrop to this film it shouldn't interfere with the point of the story. Like so many other movies this one deals with all of the conflicts that can get in the way with people falling in love. The movie is extremely well-cast in that the leads both do an excellent job creating sympathetic characters. Overall it is a fun watch even though I spent too much time thinking about the sci-fi angle. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
