What a muddled, beautiful mess. And the music, blah. Should’ve left it at the Judy Garland version; now _that_, is a terrific movie!
I liked the singing, but the acting and chemistry was pretty bad. The film is a bit on the longer side, and it starts to drag in the middle.
While the 1976 iteration of A Star Is Born feels a little formulaic and occasionally tries too hard to pull at the heartstrings with its sweeping melodrama, it ultimately works for me thanks to how engaging Kris Kristofferson is in the role. He brings a raw, authentic magnetism to the downward-spiraling John Norman Howard that balances out the film's more indulgent moments. Despite the predictable "rise and fall" beats of the plot, Kristofferson’s rugged screen presence and palpable chemistry with Barbra Streisand give the story enough soul to remain a moving watch.
A good movie with 2 talented vocalists. Unfortunately I had to mute the songs but the movie was good
Way longer than it should have been. The story begins to fall at the middle. The vocals by Barbra are great, but the acting not so much. I prefer the one with Judy Garland, and even the one with Lady Gaga.
