I was a little wary about this being a white savior type of story and felt that wrung true. Took Lopez quite a while to learn to listen.

A good movie with an excellent cast that primarily depicts the homeless environment in LA through the relationship of a reporter with one homeless guy. While the movie does not really propose viable and durable solutions, it does take the viewer into the depth of a world that is foreign to most people that are not in the situation. You should watch this movie in order to get at least a bit better understanding of homeless people in the US.

This movie was a refreshing change from the POS "The Blind Side". This movie was everything that TBS wasn't - gritty, honest and not apologetic. It was a low-level view of homelessness, mental illness and the struggles that we have with these issues. While it was obviously moving at times it never seemed to set out to artificially pull at your heart strings. That said, there wasn't anything necessarily extraordinary about it either. I don't think it would quite measure up with Rain Man or The Fisher King.
