It's a decent retelling of the Christopher Columbus story. Some strange creative choices are made and it's a little too long, but it's an interesting window into a fascinating time. It's just too bad, that all the new info came out about Columbus, that makes it not as accurate anymore...
Only reason why I like the film is the whole Vangeljs score including the iconic theme that plays in parts of film and end. I know about the whole 1492 endorsing the Black Legend thing and making Columbus innocent of stuff he did where Michael Wincott character who a villain literally did like majority of Columbus real life actions. Cinematography and score and I guess actors performance are good but brought down by story that got revised for drama.
My favorite movie director with the best French actor ever. A must watch
