Period piece drama with somewhat confusing back and forth if you are not familiar with Japan history and then unnecessary melodramatic storytelling that is a drag.

It wasn't my cup of tea and turned it off about 3/4 in... But I'd still give a passing grade 6/10. I probably would have finished it if the protagonist would have been more likeable... I sincerely dislike characters that are portrayed as dumb goofs. The movie felt like a live theater with a large set rather than a movie... But that might be a culture clash on the style of movie.
