This was not my first time to watch this (I think it's the third time?) but it seems to get better every time I watch it. While I have been a fan of "wrasslin'" since childhood, growing into my adult years and learning that it really _is_ "scripted" and choreographed has just made it that much more fascinating and entertaining. This is a great look into the semi-cloaked world behind the curtains that few of us ever get to venture into. With the world of "sports entertainment" being so tight-knit and tight-lipped, I can appreciate the performers who actually came forward into the light to share a little bit about themselves and this profession that so many of us genuinely love and appreciate. This truly is a great look behind the curtain and "Beyond the Mat".

"My mother was 13 years old when I was born. Why? Because my dad raped a little girl that was in a room asleep. My dad was going out with my mother's mother. There you go. There's some bones for Jake the Snake." I knew Jake Roberts had a disturbed past but damn, I never knew it was this disturbed. His story is so sad and I'm glad that he's doing better these days! Beyond the Mat is a very interesting documentary that pulls the curtain away from the old "kayfabe" world of wrasslin'. We mainly follow Mick Foley, Jake "the Snake" Roberts and Terry Funk. All three different people but all three with the same love for Wrestling. We even see a young Rock, we see Steve Austin, Vince McMahon, Paul Heyman and many others. It's very interesting and I don't want to spoil a lot but it is certainly worth a watch!
