A cheaply made movie is of the "made-for-TV" variety. It's got a good cast including Burgess Meredith, Bette Davis, and Karen Black, but this sucker goes practically nowhere for the first 110 minutes. Then, in its remaining 5 minutes, it slaps you awake with a sudden and shocking finale. I love the way they ended a lot of these '70s movies. Very dark. This would have been better if they had trimmed about 30 minutes off its run time. It's worth a watch if you are a haunted house completist. If you could watch it at 2x speed and still follow the story, then watch the last 5 minutes at regular speed, you'd get the maximum from it.

The first supernatural horror in which many later movies copied. You’ll notice particular scenes later copied in The Amityville Horror and The Evil Dead amongst others. An all star cast of Oliver Reed, Bette Davis & Burgess Meredith. Reed is excellent and very much at home playing a creepy and on-edge father.

Rather lame. It's hokey, boring and corny as hell. There's a few decent moments and a dark as night ending, but this one's better off collecting dust in the attic. And I don't know what it is, but Karen Black has always bugged me for some reason...

The kind of film that desperately needs a remake, only with actors less hammy than Reed and Black. The story was interesting and there was scope for something creepier but the film ultimately underwhelmed. Surprising ending though.

Great 70's horror. Think they could of done more with it though Seems cliche today, but inspired a lot of horror movies. 7/10
