Well first of all, as young adult comedies go, the movie was funny and I did enjoy it. But I personally think they did it a disservice by giving it the same name as the Christina Applegate 1991 original. That movie was a classic and it cannot be redone or updated. By calling this film by the same name a person might expect the same spirit of comedic genius that the original evoked. In that respect it fell very very flat… It was entertaining though and will definitely appeal to a new generation who have never seen the original.
Like a family reunion: everyone in this is so unsympathetic I couldn't wait to find an excuse to leave early. This BET remake of a 1991 Christina Applegate film I haven't seen doesn't play off the premise hunted at in the title, but instead has a selfish young woman getting a job to buy food for her ungrateful siblings. Let the up-whopping commence.
