Starts off great. Slows down badly. Could have been a classic
Generally speaking, I would classify "The Hidden" as a stylish and entertaining 80s sci-fi thriller with a simple “body snatcher” premise. However, the whole plot is also somewhat repetitive, and there's a twist that's so predictable due to Kyle MacLachlan's (intentionally) wooden acting that you wonder why it's even designed as some sort of surprising turn. At some point, the movie ultimately lost me a bit, but since at least the finale is reasonably good again, I think "The Hidden" is worth a mild recommendation.
Good blend of genres, it was a fun watch.
*Men in Black* meets *Under the Skin* and a dash of Kyle MacLachlan weirdness. Sounds like a winner but the mix of genres doesn't always stick together. There's good action sequences, a decent sci-fi concept and horror with nice practical effects but ***The Hidden*** doesn't offer enough of any of those, everything is half baked, unsatisfying and forgettable. The villain entity thing was pretty cool though and the score is something else. Didn't like any of the characters. Kinda lost me in the first half but the third act was entertaining. Younger Lin Shaye jumpscare!
Solid Horror/action flick. One of the better body-swap movies. The ending is a little strange, but it's satisfying.
