2 Minutes of wholesomeness for 1 1/2 hours. Love it!
Translated in Spain, unfortunately, as ‘Trapped in an Endless Loop’, River is a little gem that proves, once again, that you don't need a big budget to tell a charming story. The film puts a fresh spin on the typical story of a day that repeats itself, without falling into clichés or trying to appear more than it is. The performances are superb: natural, believable and with a warmth that fits so well with the tone of the film. Added to this are beautiful landscapes that practically make you want to book a room at the inn where everything takes place. It's one of those settings that quietly captivates you. Although it is clear that resources are limited, the team compensates for this with a brilliant idea and constant care in every scene. There is creativity, intention and affection behind every shot. In addition, the film offers some really funny moments that take you by surprise and make everything flow very naturally. ‘River’ is original, charming and carefully crafted. It's one of those small stories that work precisely because they know how to play very well with what they have.
What a complete waste of time.
Like a bookmark with a quote you like: cute, shiny and light. A group of people at a Japanese inn become trapped in a 2-minute time loop. Coming in at under 90 minutes, this little Japanese snack brings smiles and good vibes.
