Une dangereuse romance
Ed Okin souffre d'insomnie et mène une vie terne avec une épouse qui le trompe. Une nuit, pour tromper l'ennui, il se rend à l'aéroport. Imagine a young Michelle Pfieffer explaining to you why you should watch this movie, as a prime example of a new genre of movies where the protagonist ventures out into the night, compelled to complete some nebulous venture.... It would forever cloud your experience of watching it, right? Well, as a male squirrel myself, there was such a young woman (...and, I really wanted her nuts). Soon afterwards, after staying up for three days, I rented it - cuz that's how we watched movies back then. And, it was a glorious classic, right up there with, "To Live and Die in LA." [Next on the list, Sue told me, was, "After Hours," (1985) by Scorsese...and, even though it lacked the punch to the throat I imagined I experienced with, "Into the Night," it did bring up a modicum of pure anxiety.] YMMV....
Great cast and cameos but what an absolute snoozefest. Stuff happens, Goldblum meanders through scenes as his sleepy, beyond overtired character running from his troubles. A young Pfeiffer's stunning however.
I had a feeling I would enjoy this one, clocking in at nearly 2 hours I set some time aside for this. I did enjoy the film, however it did feel like a weird one at times, in terms of pacing. It was like driving on a road where you slow down then you speed up then you slow down, I think that best describes it. For me I didn't mind too much, I can see not everyone enjoying that however. The film boasts some stellar cast members, Dan Akroyd, and David Bowie, what! He was unmistakable and I instantly knew it was him, a very neat surprise for sure, not in a role I would have thought either, also have a cameo from Clu Gulager from night of the living dead. The story does need a few to pick up the pace and get going, also worth mentioning in turn that "Jeff's" character Edd is very slow as well for the most part, its a you will adjust to him or not kind of situation. Its ridiculous at times, with cool cameos and a neat story with an 80s setting so that did it for me. I also loved the little nod to Abbott and Costello meets Frankenstein with Bella Lugosi, as soon as i heard it in the background I was like I know that film.
many things can happen in one night
A great John Landis movie.
