"There's nothing in my life to keep me here anymore. I wish I could die and be born again as a bird." The ending of Birdy is one of those endings that I won't ever forget. Great stuff! Anyway, Birdy is about friendship, mental disorders and birds. It is told in flashbacks and has two good performances by Nicolas Cage and Matthew Modine. Some images are things that will stay with me like a naked Birdy (Matthew Modine) sitting on the rail of his bed like a bird. Birdy trying to fly for the first time with Al giving him a head start on a bike. Birdy is a really interesting film and well worth the watch but it felt it dragged a bit at times and it felt like it came to it's conclusion at some points but I'm happy that the ending is so out of the blue that it makes you watch the credits with a smile.
A dude who believes he is a bird. Crazy or sensual? The answer will determine whether you like this movie or not. It is in any case well acted.
Just a good wholesome time of a man playing with his birdy
A very complex character with only one wish: to be a bird
