I wanted this to be more stylish and/or wittier. A FB post sold this as Jake and Henry, murder husbands. I wish that were true! It would have added something to Bronco and Sid that just felt lacking. I also felt like the action was lacking because we were told what would happen via narration, and then that's exactly what happened.
Guy Ritchie’s In the Grey is a fast moving action thriller built around stylish action, witty dialogue and strong chemistry between Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal. While both leads are entertaining, Eiza González emerges as the film’s standout performer, bringing confidence and charisma to every scene. The film leans heavily into classic Ritchie territory with covert operatives, double crosses and explosive action sequences. Although the first hour takes time setting up its characters and story, the final act delivers the film’s strongest moments with chaotic gunfights and tense rescue missions. The review praises the humour and energetic pacing, while also pointing out noticeable continuity issues and plot holes that suggest heavy editing. Even with its flaws, In the Grey succeeds as a straightforward and entertaining old school action thriller. Full Review at www.beentothemovies.com/2026/05/review-in-grey-2026-film-starring-henry.html
I had a lot of fun with this. If you’re a Guy Ritchie fan, In the Grey delivers what most of his films do best: strong action and a fast-paced story that gets straight to the point. Ritchie doesn’t spend much time developing backstories for his characters, which leaves the film without the emotional weight that made The Covenant so compelling. Instead, he relies heavily on voice-over narration to handle exposition, keeping the emphasis on present events rather than character history. Even though the movie takes plenty of liberties—especially with the legal system—I still enjoyed the buildup and suspense. I just wish the characters had more depth. Still, Ritchie’s sharp editing and stylish direction make it a thrilling watch. Few directors are as good at making attractive people in exotic locations blowing things up feel endlessly entertaining. It’s not his best work, but it’s definitely worth watching.
Right of the gate this is a Guy Ritchie film, snappy dialogue, charismatic lead actors who are enjoying themselves in the movie, plenty of action and visual flavor. Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill, and Eiza Gonzalez are fantastic in the movie and genuinely carried it. I will admit the plot was a bit weak but great actors with that Guy Ritchie style, it was fun.
