I love the atmosphere in films from that era; it's rare to find anything like it these days. The orchestral score, the captivating narrator's voice at times, the dramatic storytelling… simply magnificent. And there's hardly any need to elaborate on Brando's overwhelming presence, his outwardly beautiful yet self-destructive soul.
The movie is good. Brando is just so chilled out in the role, it's almost as if he dgaf. Weird accent also. Prefer the Mel Gibson version.
This second major movie is, though, also a close second to the first, 1935, movie on the subject. Howard and Brando deliver excellent performances as Bligh and Christian, though it becomes at times too apparent, that Brando was not completely committed to the task. Still, a very good movie but you should also watch the 1935 version of the story which is even batter.
This movie is awesome. Why all the hate? Marlon Brando is so cool.
