Rather thick with melodrama... characters take turns demonstrating their ability to cry-on-cue. Very little attention to detail as to how the situation would actually playout, making characters involved on all sides seem incredibly stupid. Riddled with plotholes and is overall unrealistic, lacking the grit some of the better French series portray.

Started out quite brilliant and thrilling, with a unique narrative choice, particularly for a series this short, that appears at the end of episode 2. Trust me, if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about. But it all falls apart from there. What makes thrillers and suspense work brilliantly is great character development. Without good characters, you're merely watching the wheels spin endlessly with no investment. And this show lacks any real character development. I felt I had no reason to care about what happens to Alice or her baby. After the first 2 episodes, it becomes nothing but a lot of screaming and yelling, gun fights, and car chases. It's a short watch and if you love mysteries, I wouldn't say don't give it a try. It might be more up your alley than it was mine. But if you're looking for another even greater mystery that is also based upon a novel by Harlan Coben, I recommend the Netflix Original "Safe". It has all the action present here but even greater twists and suspense but was overall a better written show with some interesting and well developed characters that got me more invested in how things would turn out than "No Second Chance" ever could.
