I've never seen a show trying so hard to shove a political agenda right in your face. It makes for some really atrocious writing and lines. At least most of the time in season 1 they were subtle about it. In this season they have lines that don't even fit what's happening in the story like "Well at least you're a democrat." Political parties aren't even brought up in the show at all except for that one line, it's completely out of context of the story, why write this in? I understand that political agendas were a huge part of how comic books started, but this is extremely over the top and it's effecting the writing and story telling. I even agree with the message that they're trying to push, I just don't need it shoved down my throat every episode with awful lines. Women are just as good as men, even better at some things, I agree. Show me that then, don't tell me every single episode! A show shouldn't have to tell you how you should think or feel, it should be good enough story telling for me to pick that up on my own. I honestly don't know how the show lasted after this season. I wanted to catch back up on the arrowverse, but I might have to skip this show if it keeps up like this.

I'm not going to rehash this season particularly. Slightly better than season 1 but not a real improvement. See my comment on 2x22 for a good overview of the biggest problem this season has.

S1 was better imo. The only character that I think really improved was Alex and maybe to some extent Winn. Jimmy's storyline was a bit odd, he doesn't fit as a good replacement for Cat (and Cat was sorely missed). Guardian, had some promise but became pretty boring after a while and he seemed to sort of give up a bit near the end of the season. Supergirl, despite having an entire arc about listening and not punching first went on to use the ego driven punch first option in the finale but still ended up using the less selfish option. I'm not really convinced she matured over the course of the season. I also don't find Mon-El all that interesting as a character or a love interest.

This is a nice improvement for an already good show. Season 2 starts slow but then hits its stride and shows it certainly doesn't lack in ambition regarding mature themes, sci-fi action and silly superhero stuff. It's not perfect by any means, but it's really good.
