_Joanna Lumley’s Danube_ promises an epic journey along Europe’s most international river, tracing its path from the Black Forest in Germany to the Black Sea in Romania. Unfortunately, **the series falls short of its premise**, delivering a travelogue that is both unprofessional in execution and strikingly biased in its coverage. The Danube is renowned for flowing through ten countries, including Serbia, Bulgaria, Moldova—nations with rich histories and deep connections to the river. Astonishingly, the documentary completely disregards these countries. While the series claims to use the river as its “guideline,” it frequently deviates from the Danube’s direct influence, focusing instead on tangential cultural anecdotes and personalities that, while charming, have little to do with the river itself. The final episode jumps from Romania’s Iron Gates to Transylvania and the Danube Delta, again sidestepping the river’s journey through Serbia and Bulgaria. _Joanna Lumley’s Danube_ is, regrettably, ==not worth watching== 👎 for those seeking a comprehensive or balanced portrayal of the river. Its glaring omissions and lack of depth render it a parody of the documentary genre—unprofessional, biased, and ultimately disappointing. Viewers interested in the Danube’s full story are better served elsewhere.
