[Séries Mania '26] At times, the pain this series evokes stems from the silences and awkward situations the protagonists face, and in this respect, it demonstrates meticulous, moving, and precise writing. Stefan Golaszewski's cultivated style approaches a sometimes stark naturalism, reminiscent of the Free Cinema movement of the 1960s and also of filmmakers like Chantal Akerman and her exploration of everyday life. This naturalism might seem to portray the characters in a somewhat immature way, but it is explained by the glimpses into the past that are revealed throughout the story.
The final episode went a long way to redeeming this show. The preceding episodes are depressing, given the subject, and full of absolutely unlikeable characters.
