Finally a good f-ing show. And one that’s not written for and by idiots.
“The Beast in Me” was a solid one-season watch, but wow, did we really need eight whole episodes? This story could have fit comfortably into a 1.5-hour movie, maybe even with time left over for a post-credits scene. Instead, it felt like the writers looked at a perfectly good movie script and said, “Let’s inflate this thing like it’s a parade balloon.” Cue dramatic pauses, long stares, and more lingering shots than a cologne commercial. And about Claire Danes: seeing her in this role was honestly a little jarring, not because she isn’t talented (she absolutely is), but because the show leaned so hard into making her look drawn, stressed, and perpetually five minutes away from crying. I swear they lit her like she was starring in a True Crime reenactment. It added to the show’s overall bleak vibe and sometimes took me out of the story because I kept wondering if the characters needed therapy. All that said, it was still a good ride, just maybe one that did not need eight episodes of runway.
Excellent series that doesn't miss the landing. A rare breed these days.
Watching Claire Danes in her personality-disordered "homeland" performance is distracting and exhausting.
Absolutely fantastic. Great characters, great story with enough twists and turns to keep me enthralled right to the end.
