Really good, wish there was more
As far as season 2 goes, Episode 1 is completely boring and forgettable. Episode 2 has a little bit of entertainment value. A couple of funny moments. I do not remember Episode 3. Episodes 4 and 5 were surreal and followed his journey to his uncle’s strange “social club.” Those were the episodes that felt the most “AtlantaFX” to me this season and they were probably the best episodes of the season. The best moment of the whole season was during Episode 6 when Vince got up to speak at the funeral and confronted his whole family. That was a real moment, but also a very funny moment. I enjoyed that. But overall, I would say that this whole season was kind of forgettable. I don’t really think this show should have gotten a second season if this is all they could come up with. Vince Staples is such a naturally funny guy (truly one of the funnier celebrities out there), but this season was very short on laughs. I was disappointed.
The first season is fantastic, with original and funny humour. However, you need to pay close attention to catch the hilarious lines hidden within the nuances of the writing. Season two is very different from season one, and the best way I can describe it is with the phrase “what the hell was that”? The actor who played the mother was amusing, but that’s where the humour ends for me. I’d be interested to hear how everyone else feels about season two.
