I wish they included more technical explanation about the car with 3D visuals but I understand that it's for casual audience.

Great to take a trip into the past.. I'd forgotten how well they did in the one and only season in F1. Definitely worth watching. 8/10

Brawn - The Impossible Formula 1 Story is beautiful! A very well produced 2009 Drive to Survive full of heart and emotion! A must watch to anyone that likes F1 ❤

No unnecessary drama, just real raw emotions. This story is why I love Formula 1.

I got into Formula 1 ten years ago. I never imagined being an F1 fan because I was never a car guy or a racing fan. But I met someone who liked F1 and then, a little bit later, a took on my last name making it very easy to root for them. But, despite watching F1 for ten years now I know very little about the history of the sport. I’ve watched the odd documentary about some of the most famous drivers and I’ve looked up something on Wikipedia here and there. But I know virtually nothing about the history of F1. I am Sporcle-mad but don’t do F1 quizzes because I’d just get my ass kicked. I mention all of this to say that I didn’t even know there was a team called Brawn. The story of Brawn GP is a fascinating one. The team officially existed for one season, almost folded and…well, something crazy happened. If this was just a 2 hour film I’d recommend it to non-fans but it really is a wild story. Given everything about F1, it’s hard to convey how impossible this all seems. (I’m not sure the series does quite a good enough job of conveying that, though they try.) It feels rare than an individual sports record or a great season by a sports team after a series of terrible seasons simply because of how many more moving parts there are in F1 (and how much money is required). It feels kind of miraculous. I am not going to get into details because a) the story is public knowledge and b) I liked this more because I didn’t know the story and I assume anyone who doesn’t know this crazy story would like to be surprised. Overall, I felt like it was reasonably well-told, though it briefly suffered from the usual streaming mini-series bloat. (By no means is it anywhere near as bad as most streaming documentary mini series that should be movies.) To me I had three minor quibbles, all of which faded away or I got used to as the series kept going: There is just way too much Keanu Reaves. Here’s clearly a fan and this was something he really enjoyed. But the slo-mo shots of him walking into the garage are just bizarre and their repetition as the opening is equally bizarre. I found him an odd interviewer, too, though occasionally the fact that he wasn’t a professional but just a fan actually worked quite well. Still, there could be less of him. The weird reenactments in which the actual people are shown with actors don’t add anything. The faux reenactments I guess are a fresh twist but then there are actual reenactments and I just don’t really understand what they add to it. They stop after the FOTA drama is over, though. Lastly, I had trouble with the sound of the first episode. I guess I just had to get used to the rhythms of the show but it felt like the music during the interviews was mixed too loud for how softly so many of these people speak. I didn’t notice it in future episodes so I either got used to it or I imagined it. But I think these are relatively minor quibbles. (Certainly the last one was fixed by just turning up the volume.) On the whole I think this a perfectly fine summary of an extremely interesting and unique year in the history of motorsports, a story that is probably interesting enough to be watched by casual fans.
