I was looking forward to this, another 'reboot' if you will, of what we all know 'The Village of the Damned' previously. This time, they've given it the same title as the actual John Wyndham book it's all based on (with some significant differences, both to the book, and previous movie adaptations of 1960 & 1995) - he also penned other infamous works like 'Day of the Triffids' and 'Chocky'. To be fair I wasn't expecting anything special, but I was actually quite pleased on how this one turned out. OK, some plot holes you could drive a bus through, but have to hand it to the casting agents, those kids are spooky as hell! You wouldn't want to piss any of them off, that's for sure! Cold blooded, heartless killers, always in the name of keeping the Hive/Brood safe! Without giving anything away, I wonder if there's room for a second series. Wyndham abandoned his sequel (Midwich Main) after a few chapters, so nothing really there to base it on, so .. plenty of opportunity! Overall, an enjoyable adaptation and worth a watch if you are a fan of the genre - or seeing how it stands up to previous incarnations. I still rank the original 1960's version as being a masterpiece!
The story itself could be so good, but the characters are bland and uninteresting. I simply don't care if they live or die since they are neither lovable nor hateable...
It’s slow, but it’s sufficiently creepy to keep me watching. I don’t understand people who say the characters are boring. The moms are, but they’re being CONTROLLED by these alien children! Maybe it’s the inner horror fan in me, but I think this is a perfectly good remake of a perfectly good story.
I am quite unhappy with the last episode. I feel that it is missing one more episode.
There is still this adult alien alive.... He'll do the same thing again !!! Paul Haynes should have killed him and the other soldiers !!
But hey, this series, holy molly ! The kids are SCARY ! Hannah is the scariest !! her glance, her haircut.... I'd hate to have a child looking at me like that everyday LOL  I congratulate the young and teen actors they did an awesome job 👌 Thanks for this version of Children of the Corn 😛
[SkyShowtime] Although it takes the title of the book as vindication of its origin, it's the adaptation that distances the most from the original story, constructing unnecessary subplots. This new generation is less scary and more easily manipulated, even empathizing with other characters. But what the series does not achieve is to offer a contemporary point of view of the social conflicts posed by the films.
