It's really disappointing how they've managed to take a premise with so much potential and make it into something so profoundly dull. How many episodes have we spent in flashbacks so far? Too many. The season's called Apocalypse, we all came here for the Apocalypse, enough with the pre-Apocalypse already.

Really loved this season and the addition of the guy playing michael, who did a fantastic job selling all sides of his character. I enjoyed the flashbacks and web of interconnections to other seasons and some of the obscurer ones to discover really blew my mind.

This was like watching a season of Bewitched, only worse!

This season had the potential to be a really good one but it fails in the middle. Still, it was not hard to be better than Cult that really had no interest. First three episodes are the post apocalypse part. They raise quite a few questions, most of which, as is usual, are not really answered. But they are quite boring, and most of the characters are annoying. Just points for Sarah Paulson's character (though her pre apocalypse version seen later in the season is just as uninteresting).And of course introducing Langdon that seems like an interesting fellow, and the [spoiler]come back of the Coven witches at the end.[/spoiler] The next three episodes are the ones that make the season worth watching. Flashback to three years before, the story of who is Michael Langdon, culminating in the discovery that he is [spoiler]the Antichrist AND the baby for the Murder House season[/spoiler].Those are great, the story is interesting, and they keep on the plot. Like, this season HAS a plot ! The Return to Murder House episode in itself is on of the best of the show. It's not only obvious fan service, it ties nicely in the plot of both seasons. On one hand the slow discovery of what Michael is, through the Madison/Behold duo which works wonderfully, on the other hand it evolves the story and brings closure to all the main characters from Murder House. Perfect. Aaaaand after that it has the usual defects of the other seasons. Instead of going back to the confrontation we're ready for at the end of the 3rd episode, it stays in flashbacks, with extra parallels characters and stories that are mostly uninteresting. We need to wait for the second half of the last episode to finally get the confrontation that is very VERY disappointing. We don't really see how the Apocalypse was planned, or how the half crybaby Michael becomes the way more badass Langdon we see later. As for the way it's solved, just argh.. What was annoying with the Coven season was that nobody ever stayed dead. Resurrection is supposed to be one of the seven wonders but there are way too many characters that can do it and everybody keeps being brought back to life. However some were still supposed to really be lost for plot reasons... but Michael could still bring them back in this season. Let's note that Cordelia makes him [spoiler]bring back Misty during the seven wonders, so that she would have more weapons to fight him and we basically never see her after that.[/spoiler] Now when Michael kills people he also destroys their soul, so this time they definitely stay dead for realsies. NOPE, because [spoiler]TIME TRAVEL[/spoiler] ! Oh! Come! On! Plus the post resolution scene make no sense. Like [spoiler]Mallory stays in the past after killing Michael ? Where is her younger self then ? And she stills bring the other people back from the dead... Can nobody feel she's a Supreme ?[/spoiler] And despite being overpowered like that, we barely see anything from Mallory, that's a shame. +1 on some small points: - the Papa Legba Cameo ([spoiler]and Marie Laveau even if here it's just unnecessary fan service[/spoiler]) - Coco, the witch that can see the calories in a dish - the satanic cult and specially the leader - the Hotel cameo A big negative point on the start-up guys that we see way too much at then end and that must be the worse, most uninteresting and annoying characters of the whole show.
