This show has made me feel like a little kid again because of all of the magic that surrounds it. The dragon arc is one of the best thing animations has offered this year, the way this group of people need to work together so they destroy the biggest threat they have on their world make it very complicated to just go in straight line. I love all the characters, but the problems they face this time make them change their personalities a lot and get more mature than before. Action happens all the time, personal stories really get more interesting and finally it is the way they just make this show a little more adult the best part of it. Magic, dragons and teamwork is all what this third amazing season gives us, I’m scared of what’s to come next but we will have to wait until that moment.

Vox Machina season 3 has what I feel is the best 3 episode stretch in the entire series (episodes 7-9). I felt like the prior season really struggled with focus. With so many different characters, giving them enough screentime to lay out their arcs so they have enough of an emotional impact while also tying that into the plot itself. Because this show does care about its characters and wants to give them proper arcs and depth while also focusing on a diverse range of fantasy adventures (which makes sense given its DnD origin). I think this season improved a lot in that area because I genuinely did feel like most of the characters got strong development this season (well except for Grog). The show managed to do some of that within single episodes this time around. For example, there's an episode focused mainly on Pike, linking her doubts and growth directly into the plot in a way that manages to give her the spotlight without detracting from the season as a whole. This sharper focus lets the show build up to its climax which I feel happens in episode 9 in a way that feels genuinely emotionally impactful. However, I did feel like the last batch of episodes did loose that focus a bit and undid some of that impact, though I am willing to overlook that. I had a few minor thoughts as well. The animation as a whole is much stronger now, though I still think the CGI for the dragons is noticeable and does not fit with the rest of the quality animation. The humor is toned down this season (thankfully), though it does pop up now and then. For some reason, I struggle to always remember all the different lore and villains in this show, and I feel like it links back to a bit of the focus issue mentioned earlier as well as the shorter runtimes, but the main culprit is probably the DnD of it all. In those campaigns, the adventure itself is just a framing story for the characters, but in a show, it drives more of the narrative thrust, and I feel like they weren't always able to translate that expositional storytelling as well as the character storytelling. Overall, I still think it's a strong season with some of the highest highs of the show so far, but I am hoping the show can resolve some of its lingering issues in season 4.

Enjoying the story so far. The show seems to have taken a more serious tone this season.

Pretty good season - always fun seeing the clear DND campaign heritage it follows. Animation is simple but definitely has some sick moments. Definitely think it peaked with the Thordak fight and felt like it trailed off after that
