The art is wonderful like the video game, but the show itself is too childish (+0 age rating). I don't know why they decided to go this route when there are cartoons like Gumball or Adventure Time that even if they are made for kids, adults still enjoy them, sometimes even more than the kids.

I dunno, seen 2 episodes but it looks like a show for kids, I hope it'll become more like the actual game.

The old timey animation style alone is worth the 8/10. It's just a fast paced fun little show and the humor is great for adults and kids alike. The 10 minute episodes are perfect for this. Nice little chunks. Just don't expect a rich and deep story, but honestly... people who expected that from a show about the adventures of two little cup-boys need to have more realistic expectations. I get that it's better if you loved the game, like me. Cuphead is one of the best new characters of the past ten years.

So either you saw this not knowing more than the show, or you know exactly why this show exists. The short answer: for those that know already, this is one of the much better spiritual successes of a game. The show is far from serious and builds more on the characters that already exist. But it was highly entertaining, an easy binge, and looks amazing. I'm sure there are lots of little easter eggs I missed. But this definitely continues the era of good movies and shows based on existing games.

This show reminds me of late episodes of Spongebob, or a more censored version of Ren and Stimpy. It has a "90s cartoon" feel to it, despite its inspired 30s look. Anyway its target audience is children, so I'm not sure adults will find any appeal to it, or at least to this season.
