From Vanity Fair: Evocative and offbeat, Davy Chou’s film follows a young woman, Freddie (Park Ji-min), who was born in South Korea before being adopted by French parents. Somewhat against those parents’ wishes, Freddie travels to Korea to seek out her birth family. She’s searching for specific people, of course, but she is also reaching for something intangible. Return to Seoul spans nearly a decade as Freddie struggles for a sense of place in the world. She’s a fascinating creation, prickly and mercurial and, for a spell, immoral. But Chou eventually rounds his film into something compassionate, a bittersweet collage of a young life in flux.

I can't believe that in my teens I always wondered about adopting a child... But then adulthood happened and stories like these and crimes by adoptees all over the news in bits and pieces, that made me scared of adoption... See this thing I don't understand why adoptees don't understand that there are many circumstances and situations in which parents have to give them for adoptions... At least in this type of scenario, parents are hella guilty but the kids are a#$hole... And when the parents are shi¥{y and don't care about their own kids, then their children are good and understanding... But the 1st scenario pisses me off, cause you've to understand their situation and understand both the parties... Anyhoo thanks for the stories/movies like this, I ain't believing in adoption, cause at the end of the day, adoptees kids gonna hate you and their biological parents anyway. The first half was kinda okay/good but then after 2 years later, it changed completely... And felt like a different movie or something... I genuinely don't like the main character enough... I get it you are an adopted child, but Why can't these people appreciate that they are so lucky that they found good adopted parents cause you know how unfortunate many children are with the adoptions. It's always the fortunate children who are always unhappy. Urghhh... Anyhoo second half is boring imo...

I have heard all the great reviews of this movie and I had to check it out! While I certainly like it less than consensus, it is undeniably solid. It is a small film, with a deep story to tell. People that can connect with the lead are going to love this film! Rating: 3.5/5 - 80% - Would Recommend

When I first starting watching this, I felt like it was somewhat dark, but I found my emotions getting the best of me in the end. Main character is definitely misunderstood but mentally she's been through a lot and you end up understanding why she is the way she is.
