My name is Nobody has a very determined cult following who are absolutely convinced that this is a great film. I'm not sure I can agree to that, but there are certainly some wonderful moments in it.
When I first saw this, I was thrilled that someone had made a movie with two of my movie heroes. Henry Fonda and Terrence Hill. As it turns out, it was produced in the style of Sergio Leone with music by Ennio Morricone. Fonda playes Beauregard, the fast-drawing gunfighter who just wants to retire and fade away. Hill plays "Nobody", who is basically the trinity character. Fanboy "Nobody" wants Beauregard to go out in a blaze of glory, facing off against the Wild Bunch. The film combines typical slapstick Trinity scenes with some very gritty moments. There are a few tributes to Sam Peckinpah, and a thundering herd of 150 cowboys periodically riding through the story. Just re-watched the first half of the 2-hour long film. Will wrap this comment up after I have re-watched the second half. Check out my list: https://trakt.tv/users/jeffsmith99/lists/spaghetti-westerns-i-want-to-watch Look for this on Amazon Prime Video.
The original title of the film is Il mio nome è Nessuno.
This is probably the best spaghetti-western-comedy ever made. An over the top capable guy called Nobody wants to help an ageing gunman to retire in peace. The plan is that Nobody pretends shoots the guy in public so that they can write truthfully on his gravestone “Nobody was faster than him”. Excellent entertainment.
Watched it the theater when it first came out and watched it dozens of times since. Every time is a pleasure.
