You'd be forgiven for thinking Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson are "extra" as far as tone/acting/capiness whatever you wish to describe it. Situated in this level of absurdity, they track. Arguably, the thing the movie has going for it most is the music. I think I'm someone who has gotten used to "going along for the ride" of the bizarre and surreal, but also find myself always hoping there will be genuine jokes/laughs that make the cringe enjoyable more than merely palatable. I want to buy-in, not wait for myself to discover I'm enjoying or okay with what's happening. Here, I feel it misses the mark. The interactions between Megan and Nathan suss out what I hoped to see between the other characters. I believe comedy is as much an individuated voice and perspective as it is cultivating jokes within said perspective. I don't register joke-writing. I just sit in "Can you believe how absurd this is!" vibe. Sure, yes, I can. Now please make a joke.
I'm shocked this was not written by the South Park guys. It reminds me of Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. Absolutely filthy, foul mouth, and out to offend everybody.
There is some funny scenes here but that doesn’t salvage it. Nathan Lane and Megan Thee Stallion killed it. But boy this is bizarre and really dumb at times. I don’t know what’s weirder the sewarboys or a flying vagina.
