Honestly; I watched this movie expecting it to be absolute trash… but it's not so bad, after all. Of course it's not a masterpiece, and it has its plot holes. But I think the acting is fine when you consider it's a movie about a bunch of deranged, psychologically damaged people. Maybe I'd be harsher if I read the book it's based on, yet I think there's some merit to it as a standalone film. David Thewlis' acting is probably the worst part (which is understandable considering how he was cast, not to mention the development hell overall), but everything else is fine for a mid 90s movie.
Pretty bad. Brando was a real life troll pushing the boundaries of what he could do to amuse himself. Fair play to him.
Watching this may be a necessary step in order to truly marvel at the bonkers behind the scene story of the production nightmare this was. I was expecting the worse and it ended up being a watchable train wreck. I hihgly recommend watching this with friends so everyone can point and laugh at the debacle. I dont necessarily recommend this unless you have the right expectation in place. If Brando, Val Kilmer, or Stan Winstons makeup werent in this film, it would have felt like any other made for TV movie that airs on the sci fi network.
This is the worst movie I had ever seen.
