Dallamano does a good job on this one, as he does on most of his films. I wouldn't class him as absolute top tier of the Italian directors of this era, but most of his work I've seen is interesting at least. This one was engaging, with good character dynamics and excellent visual compositions.
Gritty, straightforward revenge story with plenty of glowering, fistfights, and pistol duels.
Excellent Spaghetti Western featuring revenge, but more about the tragedy of a former sharpshooter and his pupils. The camera work includes a famous shot of a glass sliding down a bar (from the perspective of the glass) in a saloon where half of the building is in Mexico and the other half is in Texas. And the saloon has a thick white line marking the border. The trumpet and the ballad about the train are excellent. Our "Hero" is not really heroic, but instead we watch him slide down a slope from celebrity to huckster to dispair. He has 3 students - all live tragic lives for one reason or another. Check out my list: https://trakt.tv/users/jeffsmith99/lists/spaghetti-westerns-i-want-to-watch There are a couple versions of this moving on Amazon Prime - I watched the one in Italian with english subtitles. The subtitles were hard to read because they were small print and they disappeared quickly before I could read them. But I got the gist of it. Definately will re-watch.
