Like a stranger at a party who borrows a buck and is so charming you forgive the debt just after. You know how when you watch a movie you always wonder what you would do in that situation? En roue libre (Freewheeling) starts off asking a lot from the viewer because the plot makes so many leaps you wonder if it will have legs to finish. Fortunately, the movie hits its stride early on and the result is a simple, unpretentious, charming tale of friendship. While the story may lag in places, the two leads (the inimitable Marina Foïs and Benjamin Voisin, who really impressed in Été 85) have such talent and chemistry that even when nothing's happening, something's happening.
