Wow! This movie is wonderfully acted, powerful, and at times difficult to watch. Palm Trees… will leave the viewer subdued with all types of empathy and emotion long after the credits roll. Do yourself a favor and watch this film.
Having had a teenage daughter, I kind of wish films like this were around back then, because people need to see what girls dating older guys looks like. This film was unflinchingly real and very well acted.
This is what underage girls “dating” older guys should always look like in media. I thought this was very grounded in reality and it’s what it should be instead of the romantization we often see, which only makes underage girls more vulnerable to grooming. It’s a process and it’s so subtle when done by master manipulators, that’s portrayed very well here. Knowing what it looks like can make it easier to identify in real life. That’s where I think this movie is super helpful. No, that older guy showing interest in you as an underage girl is not sexy. He’s a creep and he’s just looking to take advantage of you in any way, shape or form he can. This is well acted, very emotional, and it leaves a strong impression.
What a gorgeous casting of the main character. And the story was also great
