We have seen parts or even much of this movie many times before. The fact that they went down a well-travelled path and still made something unique is nothing short of extraordinary. Much of the credit belongs to Rampling, who is an absolute force in this movie. When she is on screen, she dominates the scene even if she says very little. It very much reminded me Maggie Smith's performance in Lady in the Van. I was worried that the movie may have gone five minutes too long, but they got the ending right as well. This is an excellent movie. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
Still a little bit of a letdown, had expected a bit more from this. Even acting canon Charlotte Rampling was not at her best here. The story is often predictable, and occasionally just illogical and weird. The forced play on sentiment doesn't work so well for me here. It does all look pretty (duh, New Zealand), but is insufficient to convince me.
