Bad acting, bad accents. Just bad all around.
Could have been a much better movie, but Jaden is a terrible actor.
OKish movie, aimed at young adults. Story and characters are simple, ending is classic "Happy ending". I liked the effects, though "Ursa" could have been more interesting. Jaden Smith is the week point of the movie. I didn't like his acting even though he is just a kid yet.
Astonishingly dull. The whole story feels like it was built purely to glaze Will Smith at every opportunity but he is not very good at playing a stoic arsehole. “Cypher Raige” is honestly one of the funniest fucking fanfiction-ass names I’ve ever heard. Also: Jaden, just put the fries in the bag bro. He looks awkward and uncomfortable basically the whole way through, as if his dad dragged him to work and he had no say in it. And the accent, which I assume is supposed to be futuristic and otherworldly or whatever, just sounds like he doesn’t know how to talk like a human. Also somehow the film thinks it’s connecting to Moby Dick? Because there’s a big monster… right… fucking Godzilla can be Moby Dick then can it. It’s all just so generic and soulless and un-Shyamalan. I do not care about the sci-fi elements and the CGI forest and “Cypher Raige” and anyone else in it. I know M Night is capable of making genuinely clever and creepy films then I see this and it makes me want to watch Airbender just to see how that could possibly be worse
