I just watched this movie again, after 20 years. I forgot how well written and fast paced this is. Awesome cast too. At the time this was released, it was a "Nicholas Cage" movie. However, in 2022, you'll find a few faces in here who later became famous. For me, James Gandolfini was the biggest surprise. When I first watched this, James Gandolfini wasn't “James Gandolfini”... yet.

This is not an easy watch. Unsettling and sad. I felt so sorry for the Mother. Very well acted. When I first watched this it disturbed me no end.

8mm isn’t for the faint-hearted, but for those brave enough to step into cinema’s shadowy corners, it’s an 8/10 thrill that proves even the ugliest truths can’t stay buried forever. Watch it for Cage’s intense performance, stay for the gut-punch of a story, and remember: sometimes curiosity doesn’t just kill the cat—it drags it down with you.

Whoever battles monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster himself. And when you look long into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Another very underrated (literally at 67%) movie and for sure one of Cage's best. [spoiler] I like the simplicity of the story. No mad twists. A rich guy that wants a movie of a girl being killed "because he can". Some sleezebags who do everything for money. A guy who just kills people because he likes it. In a way this a more believeable than creating complex characters. You hate them for what they did and how they justify it. "No one's going to miss her.". You want justice, want them dead. But you must understand that it takes a part of you, you'd never get back. Wells is not you typical Hollywood avenger.[/spoiler]
