Henry (Ryan Gosling), un joven mentalmente perturbado, le anuncia a Sam Forster, su psiquiatra (Ewan McGregor), que piensa suicidarse en un plazo de tres días, cosa que el psiquiatra intentará evitar. Por su parte, Henry se dedica a enturbiar la relación de Sam con su novia Lila (Naomi Watts), pintora y antigua paciente suya. Poco a poco, la sólida y arraigada racionalidad de Sam empieza a tambalearse. Sometido a situaciones cada vez más surrealistas, llega un momento en que ya no puede distinguir entre realidad y ficción, y su yo y el de Henry se confunden.

Surreal! Very surreal. The colors, the atmosphere, the transitions – it's a piece of art! It doesn't make much sense until the very end but "there's too much beauty to quit."
The definition of arty. There’s absolutely nothing interesting going on here below the surface, it’s using convoluted writing and a fancy presentation style to cover up for its lack of substance. The ‘twist’ at the end is a massive: so what?, acting’s just okay, nor are the characters even that captivating. Finally, while I do appreciate the effort that was put into the scene transitions, it’s also blatantly obvious that this is ripping off Aronofsky’s signature style at points. 4/10
Awesome movie. You don't give any idea of what is happening up to the and, and even at that time, is not clear at all.
